Since 2018, I’ve been searching for a safe and empowering community for Black women data leaders (like me) to come together, have grown women candid conversations and be authentic. I found none so I created this community.

No matter what your path has been to your data role, you’ll find a kindred spirit here. I hope you have not only connected with new professional friends but also you gain the tools and resources to execute 30-60-90 day action plans for your next level. You DESERVE, sis.

Our signature annual event is the Black Women in Data Summit. The inaugural summit, held October 1-2, 2022, was a real-life manifestation of my 2020 dream to bring together Black women leaders for actual professional development. This community can’t be contained to an annual experience so we’re offering virtual events throughout the year and a private place to commune.

Five Black Women Smiling

As a member, I want you to get immediate value from being here. That’s why I’m aiming to offer five simple things:

  • Experience exclusive content and conversations you can’t find anywhere else.

  • Continue to share your interests who do the same things, or who care about the same topics in data, career and getting your coins.

  • Make better, more well-informed decisions about the things that are most important to you, your self-care and your professional life.

  • Swap stories, experiences, and ideas (not necessarily advice) around our shared mission.

  • Find a little inspiration, thought-provoking conversations, and expert perspective each and every day.

To provide the inspiring, impactful and informative quality events of this magnitude together is not a small task. The BWD team is amazing so feel free to give them their flowers often. See you in events, posts and replies. Thank you for investing in your data career growth and sharing with all those in BWD.

More on the Black Women in Data Summit!

The Summit is for us to discover and craft a professional path we desire. It hosts sessions for exploring different data career paths, mapping your data career trajectory, networking with peers and enhancing your data skills in one of three concurrent workshops. Our speaker lineup is filled with all-stars in the data industry hailing from the public, private and education sectors. A few of the speakers are running their own businesses, on the side as an additional stream of income. They all were introduced to their data career through their academic pursuits in mathematics, psychology, applied economics, biomedical informatics, computer science or another discipline all together.
