Data Is the New Gold: Protecting Your Innovation Through Intellectual Property

Your insights, algorithms, research, and digital products are more than just output—they’re assets. But without proper protection, those assets can be exploited, duplicated, or lost. In this engaging and empowering session, Andrea Hence Evans, Esq., a seasoned IP attorney and former USPTO examiner, will break down how intellectual property (IP) law intersects with the world of data science, tech, and innovation.

Workshop attendees will learn:

  • The differences between copyrights, trademarks, patents, and trade secrets—and how each applies to data and digital products

  • Strategies to protect proprietary datasets, algorithms, machine learning models, and research

  • How to secure IP rights when collaborating with corporate teams or academic institutions

  • Steps you can take today to safeguard your intellectual property

Whether you're building a data consultancy, launching a tech product, or contributing groundbreaking research, this session will equip you with the tools to own your brilliance.
